Welcome
Do you long for someone to talk to?
Someone who will listen but won’t judge you, no matter what you tell them?
If you’re looking for help with difficult emotions, are feeling stuck and longing for change, or perhaps you’re just fed up of having no confidence, then email or call me to arrange an initial, no-obligation consultation to find out how I can help.
My name is Dawn Smith and I am a BACP registered counsellor, offering private therapy and counselling in Ipswich and online. I work from comfortable consulting rooms in Ipswich town centre.
How I can help you
No matter how lost, frightened or confused you may be feeling, I can help. But first, let me explain a little more about how counselling works.
As a counsellor, I don’t give advice and I won’t tell you what to do. But I won’t leave you to flounder alone either. In therapy, I aim to provide a safe space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and problems in confidence, develop a greater understanding of yourself, and be supported to consider the changes you may wish to make in your life.
Free 15 minute consultation
I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss key issues and explain the therapy process
The top 4 issues I specialise in are: Anxiety, Dating & Relationships, Self-Esteem & Support for Pet Loss
Anxiety
Whether you’re stuck in a rut at work, are struggling with your relationships, or are just feeling a little lost – whatever is making you anxious, I can help. I also specialise in helping clients facing major milestones in their life.
Maybe you’re dreading turning 30/40/50 and beyond, are desperate to become a parent (or are desperate not to), or are finding the menopause hellish – whatever hurdle you’re facing, I can help you unpack those feelings and find clarity about what to do next.
Dating & Relationships
Many of my clients tell me how confusing, anxiety-inducing, and at times, downright soul-destroying modern dating can be.
How to navigate dating apps, and the jumble of feelings that comes with starting a relationship, is something I’ve helped many people with and can help you with too. But whether you’re in the early stages of dating or in a long term relationship, happily single or less happily so, if you’ve a relationship concern you’d like to discuss, please reach out.

Pet Loss Support
Losing a pet can feel utterly devastating, and in some cases, as painful as losing a human member of the family. But sadly, the very real sense of grief and loss that pet owners feel is not always acknowledged or understood. If you’re struggling to come to terms with the loss of a beloved pet, please get in touch. Trained in Pet Loss Support with animal welfare charity The Blue Cross, I know losing a companion animal – no matter how big or small – can be heartbreaking. I offer a space for you to share your feelings and to honour the relationship you had with your special companion.
